I think because we look so alike, share a common language, and have common roots, we often don't appreciate just how different we are.

John, you are so right.  I've often heard it said that the hardest country to adjust to (when one moves to a different country) is the one that seem most similar, because you are not expecting the cultural differences to be as great as they are.

I can attest to that out of experience. Even after 16 years in the States, I am still learning to adjust.

To me, Satan looks just like us, he is one of us, just hasn't got a physical body yet.

He certainly isn't hidden behind a grotesque mask, horns, cloven feet or any other inhuman physical characteristics.

Sue H, take a very careful look at that Peter and then tell me you feel the same way!!

We seem to have drifted a little in this thread so I thought I would bring it back to life.....Peter!!

Thats it, I'm going round to Rons house with my pitch fork. Ron, bend over, assume the position. Red hot pitch fork coming.

Barbara, thank you for the welcome. I have a sister named Barbara.

Sue and Diana, your words and explanations are beautiful.

LOL at Ron and Peter. Can always count on you for a laugh. I would start running Ron.

OK, which one of you lot has been telling God about me?

I was up a ladder yesterday varnishing my log cabin, and he sent one of his minions to yank it out from under my feet. Broke my right wrist in three places.

Ouch! No more guitar-playing for a while.

Most impressed with our much-maligned National Health Service, though. Ambulance was here in 5 mins (and we live in the middle of nowhere) and the nurses and doc at the hospital were all kind, friendly and efficient.

I need sympathy!
