More than likely a Good Shepherd, Ruth

Oh John! Surprised  You poor thing. I am so sorry. I wish you a speedy recovery!  Wow, 5 minutes, that's impressive. I suppose we should all be very grateful for the Jasons of this world.  I am glad they were quick on the scene and hopefully able to give you something for the pain before you got to hospital.

Take care my friend, many good thoughts and well wishes are speeding your way!Kiss

By the way, the fall was Satan's doing, the ambulance was God's! Wink LOL! Laughing

...my take home message in this thread would be don't confuse God wth religion.  Religion is only the tool and like any other tool, can be used rightly or wrongly.

To me the opposite of love is not necessarily hate, it's fear. When you get down to the root cause of so much of what's wrong with us as a species, it boils down to fear.

Ruth, I couldn't agree more. Well said! Smile

I'm also with you Ruth.

Church and religion are people, and people are flawed.

Thanks for your posts, Andy and Lyn, I certainly respect your views, and agree that we as a forum fellowship do well to respect each other. I've seen otherwise on other boards.

I think on the whole we all have a great relationship, and that makes me one very happy person.

It seems to me that sometimes the opposite of love is apathy.  That may strike you as a wierd point of view, but if you think about it, love is really about caring so much, it hurts, whereas apathy is modern day society's 'don't give a damn syndrome'.

There again, you'd be very unwise to take my word for it, I haven't prayed as often as I should since my wife died, so I should probably be the last to voice an opinion!

OK, which one of you lot has been telling God about me?

I was up a ladder yesterday varnishing my log cabin, and he sent one of his minions to yank it out from under my feet. Broke my right wrist in three places.

Ouch! No more guitar-playing for a while.

Most impressed with our much-maligned National Health Service, though. Ambulance was here in 5 mins (and we live in the middle of nowhere) and the nurses and doc at the hospital were all kind, friendly and efficient.

I need sympathy!

I'd do my best to avoid visiting those three places in future, if I were you, John.  They soind dangerous!

Well said Alan, and I don't think it's wierd at all. In fact I think it's very insightful.  You are correct, the opposite of love is indifference.

Thanks, folks.

Believers, this is tongue-in-cheek.

I broke my ankle a few years ago, Sue. That was even worse.

As Joni Michell said - don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone...
