He was 94. According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side. As an inventor, Paul helped bring about the rise of rock 'n' roll and multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the "tracks" in the finished recording. |

Was thinking of guitarists often associated with Gibson Les Paul guitars. They would include---Jeff Beck ( Yardbirds), Marc Bolan (T Rex), Eric Clapton ( Bluesbreakers/Cream),The Edge ( U2), John Fogerty ( Creedence Clearwater Revival), Billy Gibbons ( Z Z Top), Steve Howe ( Yes), Paul Kossoff ( Free), Garry Moore( Thin Lizzy), Jimmy Page ( Yardbirds/ Led Zeppelin ), and Slash ( Guns ‘n’ Roses) A true legend in his own lifetime. |

I have a friend who went to one of Spike's book signings - she suffers from Manic Depression as did Spike Milligan. When he signed the book she excitedly said "We have something in common" and before she could carry on he said "What - two arms and two legs?!" |
