Not easy to work on the computer in a rocking chair either (even if I had one) LOL! |

Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 03:56 on 6th November 2012 I took cake decorating one time...now I'm not into many of them though..... Seem to want to take the easy way out. I felt honored though meeting Mr. Wilton in California and attending one of his classes and he signed our books that day. People more into cupcakes these days...and are they ever decorated to the hilt now also. One of the oldest receipes to exist is the South American so called "Aztec Pudding"...after the ladies washed and pared thier fruit in bowls of water...so they could dry thier fruit...they would take this water and boil it and strain it...it would end up looking more like an fruited thick syrup..they sweetened with Honey usually...to this theyadded cinnamon and toasted pinion nuts some oil of some kind thathad an buttery taste and would toss it with flour tortillas until the bread was moisten and put it into clay pots and sort of bake it all together. Take note..no eggs. Sometimes they would top it with some goat cheese though depending on what Kind they made..it was often made with peaches/plums/apples/cherries...and the receipe is thousands of years old. Cherokee's had an simliar receipe for old time persimmon Pudding....which I might add is in the stores right now. Sitting outisde or inside next to an breeze requires an rocking chair Cathyrnl...and some soothing music. That is if your going to watch the sun go down for the evening. Rocking charis are good for the soul. I gave the little gal I raised one when she was expecting her first born. My own grandkids have been rocked, and my son growing up also. They were originally made from the back rests in tipi's of the Native Americans...though th elegs extended out and only th etop half "rocked". I use to watch my neighbors when our houses were new in the hot summertime...lightening flashing all around usand cracking thunder ...until it cooled off in an rain..sitting under her porch across the street, talking to my other neighbor and rocking...I went over there one time after the flashes got rather wild and asked them how they could sit outside in such weather...Sharon said..reminds of back in the midwest in the summer evenings...and I feel so "at home" right now. We knew our day was done, the kids fed and washed up and tucked in bed.... and we could relax then...rocking on the front porch under the eaves...safe. Hubby in his chair watching TV ussually by then. Back in the days when there was probably something worth watching on tv also. I'm glad everyone is at thier home tonight and I can relax also...was an long day for me. Go see my sister tomarrow. I bought my frist turkey tonight at the grocery store for the Holdiays. Even got us an sugar free Pumpkin pie. So right now I have an somewhat beginning of Thanksgiving Dinner this year. Have an good day tomarrow everyone!...election day here. |
