Hi all.

Wish it was that warm here Cathy. It never got over about 20 C here and this afternoon the mist came down in Hilton where I play bowls and we had to stop early because we couldn't see the other end of the green eventually. Hilarious watching people bowl "blind"

Now it is drizzling again and very "English". Will need a duvet (comforter for those from accross the pond) and a quilt tonight.

Ah well, maybe tomorrow spring will come.............................................

Hope all is well with all of you wherever you may be.

Hats off to "Dancing with the Stars" who last night helped to raise 14 million dollars for the Red Cross...and the Hurricane victims. Of course it did 25 billion dollars worth of damage...but every bit helps.

Syd..easiest way to make an comforter...sew what ever sized sheet you want it to be..over an existing blanket...and then do the little "ties" ever so many handwidths away with Yarn, keep th elayers fo fabric together,...it can renew an older blanket o rcomforter in no time and not take much time to do if you use an sewing machine. Old sleeping bags work perfect for an project like this one. It took me two weeks to hand crochet an queen sized comforter one winter...my son was an baby and I was laid off work at the time. There's an lady over here that's been teaching men how to knit and make quilts. Just like an food Chef..some mean make excellant uphlosters and seamstress. Our senior "Scouts" made an "tipt" for an Cultural School project one time...was in the newspaper. Fullsized also...liek like they really are.

You are welcomed to have some of our warmer weather today if you'd like...but by Friday and Saturday night we have our first "Frost" here of the season as temperatures dip down near freezing. But it's autumn here and we can expect  that at times.

This morning see's me taking over old jeans I can no longer wear due to their size... to my sister...whose neighbor "Mary" might be able to wear some of them...plus 2 dresses, house robes and tops..it filled up half my car trunk...then I got over there an someone had left an big shopping cart along the apartments...so I filled it up with the clothing and half with food for sister until she gets paid next week....and rolled it to her apartment. I told her if they couldn't use the jeans to make "Jean" aprons out of them...handbags...or again small comforters for kids..backed by wooly material. they are both "church" ladies you know. Hard telling what they can come up with if they get to thinking about it. ..I have my canning jar snowman "lights"..here for my project. I guess I better get going for now.  It's not rianing here, but it's drizzling rain in and small community not to far away called "Damascus" when I went through there this morning on the way to my sister's. Suppose to be raining by tonight here.

Word has it there's an volcano coming alive again up near Britsh Columbia, Canada where they had the 7.7 earthquake couple weekends ago....and they say an natural Hot Springs" in the area has stopped flowing recently also. Keeping an eye on things.

They mess up my posts when they take those text words of mine..this time they underlined sewing machines and school project.

As you know today is election day here...but there was quite some comment made last night on the radio about California passing the bill they had out to voters on making "GMO" products labelled...as they said Montsanto Corp. spent 45 million trying to get it  discarded before it got to the voters, and failed...people are hoping the Californians can lead the way in this subject. It won't ban the products...just help you be aware of what your sticking in your mouth. Our "animals" if left to themselves refuse to eat "GMO" grain Most the countries of the world are kicking it out...on thier own. .

So far the voter's have an lot in common with my votes...Oregon is almost 2/3 Obama for President so far...but they voted for him the last time to begin with. It's interesting where those voting for Romney are coming from...almost the areas known to be drug cartel, religious fantatics and gambling/prostituion states...and segreation type states also..particularly the "south" where they have always hated the colored people. Nationwide they are both very close to each other in votes. It looks like Obama is more city oreinted for his votes so far also. Oregon is saying no to allowing cascino's to come in and no on allowing marjiuana also. No on any additional taxes also. Seem to want the old time favorites returning back again of which are mostly democrates by political few..or supposedly for the people. I can remeber growing up it was an very strong republican state for the most part. It seemed to change with John F. Kennedy..or started to anyway. Will see how things go in the morning...but it's an very close Presidential race so far. Watching all this was so interesting I fell alseep for an bit...and feel wide awake now. Sipping my tea and wondering how everyone else is "coping" right now...I see the rain front made it in...streets are slick and shiny. Hubby at  his regular weekly scout meeting tonight.

What kind of cake is it you people are talking about that Cathyml is sharing?. ..sister in-law when I left there was making an lemon cake with raspberry jello in it...they call them "poke" cakes. My mother's receipe was the old version of it called an "Lemon Jello cake". I took over my sister's in-laws call for an sugar-free pumpkin pie today also. Gave her an chocie of fat free or sugar free whip cream.

Word has it they found $3 in the blue jeans I left them today...Mary says she's willling to give it back to me...just for having the free clothing. So I guess I go and pick that up the next time I go over to my sister's house. But for  now, time to get into my Christmas Craft work...so better get going. Have an good evening!

Thanks Shirley. I have a great ready made comforter already. Very cuddly and warm. I also have a nice warm Irish cover which is light, warm and very soft. I sleep warm to be sure.

Just a quick pop in to say Hi. I have lots to do today and expect to get busier as the month goes on. I shall have to make a concerted effort to find a place to stay from next year and time is getting short. I must try and find some boxes to pack stuff in.

Bye for now.
