Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 04:05 on 8th November 2012 Good to see you come in Julie.... Ok guys..I agree it is an grouse night perhaps...been shopping all day long and have three Christmas Presents taken care of now...and paid cash for them also. I owe no one an thing...and if I do...it will paid here soon. Picked up and Hamilton Beach electric knife to go with the same make bread oven...kid's toys....Skylander giants...XBox game and portal, book and two extra figurines. That was "Expenisve"! The lego game of concectivy..where they play an an game and draw cards and have to build thier little lego game pieces to win.....an "Cars" to match the robe for one grandon...this car lights up..shoots missiles and has wings come out the side and the taillight comes down and shows to firey looking retro-busters in the back of the car....to defend himself...the other grandson...and true animal lover...gets an talking perguin...you load with foam balls and can shoot out at your opponent....we will see who wins. Also got and double decker transport truck with something like 15 Hot wheel cars on it...it makes truck sounds...and an werid musical thing that you can make into different shapes...that has an color bar on it in yellow and red lights...and it shows an pattern...and you have to reemeber the pattern...to beable to change the shapes as you progress. An fuzzy lined hooded jacket that has an matching under sweatshirt wiht hood in the "angry birds" theme. An separate Lego helicopter to build also. That about does it for right now. Oh,,and an huge $169 Lemax toyland dispaly that I got for half price for my daughter in-law as it's very hard for her to find anything blue which is her yearly colors and this is painted in an light blue, lihgts up and has an dog parade going on in figureines for out front if it....and should fit nicely with the rest of the things she has, plus my lighted snowmen jars...plus she has an new table cloth also. OK..four people, but my sister called tonight and tells me she found the perfect table she wanted also...so bought it...and it came with 6 chairs also. Not to mention...but I will...I went out and I raked the leaves off of the along the curbs out front yesterday...so when it rained last night our drains wouldn not clogg up...the city came by today and cleaned the whole street for me..after seeing that....an neighbor up the street was out doing the same thing with his blower device...but I don't know if they returned or not...I have been keeping those drains cleaned out with the help of an older nieghbor that passed away couple years ago, ever since the street was built...so 30 plus years ago....I've been being responsible for the up keep of our area. He was nice and waved as he left in his utilty truck also. Not quite sure what is it that makes people "do" for themselves...but this seems to be the trick in ways. Not all of us have had the money to hire outside help when we needed it. I have heard there is an new kind of community that has sprang up...and piece of land in the middle of houses....that is an grassy field...and the young folks do the mowing and the gardens for the houses...and the landscaping...and the older folks repay them back in fresh baked goods delivered weekly in return...and "free" babysitiing. Communities where people help people in ways they can do so. By having the kids out front for thier "play" they all can watch them for security reasons also. No cars areallowed in this circle...the cars are parked on the backsides of the houses along allley ways....and vistors to the houses enter it from the back side also. All the families went in together to buy one empty house to store "Bulk" food items also at an discount....which they store in the house individually accordingly to what they needed.Kind of like your own mini-store I guess. X-factor is on...I gotta for for now..have an good evening! |

Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 18:15 on 8th November 2012 Gonul..what an lovely surprise to see you here...I lost your addy and would write you otherwise if I had it...same for many others also this time of the year particualry. How are things going in your area? Peggy an "Scavanger Hunt" use to be an list of things that were part of an game amoung others to try to find them...kids use to do this in our neighborhood...some of the things they would ask from the neighbors were...rubber bands...pencils...perhaps an cookie or cracker...whomever can full fill thier list the first and returns with the goodies wins the game. it can be an bit tricky at times...for instance an unbroken "raw" egg...an alphabet letter of your first name....an shoe string...or an purple color crayon. Depends on what's on the list. One time I got an request for an "Treasure map" to my apple tree. I forgot last night to add on the wall-side car race track...it hangs horizontially on an bedroom wall and you use those Scott "command" strips so your walls aren't harmed when you take it down. It doesn't require using up floor space..of which they don't have that much to begin with. I bought the"boys" unusal toys this year I thought and not the normal stuff...they will have to get the expensive "electronic" from thier parents. I saved the money to pay for this Christmas out of my social security check earlier in the year and know it will probably be the last year for toys in ways. The youngest though is in the third grade...and still needs an toy Christmas in my estimation. Money wise, it really works out better to just go somewhere for the weekend...but then it doesn't necessarily need to be so many toys then either....they do better going places as they "age" an bit also. I hope to finish off some other gifts today and come to an close on things for me. I'm on an budget and am running out of the money I saved also. So I finsish working on it now and leave you all be. I hope those in New England and New York and near by are out of thier snowstorm they are having... and it is suppose to be just rain here soon for the weekend. but they have this concern because of the damage of Hurricane Sandy..maybe they will come into earthboppin and give us an report on things. Our Salvation Army the other day was stripped clean of matresses and dingin tables and bedding that they most likley sent back east. They should of kept the wood from the trees that fell down for people's fireplaces...one time they need the firewood more then the wood chips for landscaping. Have an good day..I'm off and about...Poof! |
