Veteran British film and TV actor, George Baker aged 80. The sort of man people would consider a true gentleman. I last saw him in Midsomer Murders The House In The Woods where he played two roles as good and bad twins.

Dan Weldon aged 33; Indycar racer from Olney, Buckinghamshire who died of his injuries from an accident at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Dan Wheldon won the IndyCar series in 2005 and won the Indianapolis 500 for the second time earlier this year, and runner-up in 2009 and 2010. He'd started his career alongside F1's Jenson Button in their early days, but headed to the US to further his career there. A very sad day for both US and UK motorsport fans. He leaves a wife and two children.
