High Sweden Bridge again!! A closer view of High Sweden Bridge for which I offer no apology for showing again, with a snow covered High Peak in the distance, this ridge forming the western edge of Scandale and also the eastern edge of the Fairfield Horsehoe. One of my favourite short walks from Ambleside This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 5D Mark II 1 person has added this picture to their favourites |
Scandale from High Sweden Bridge Standing above High Sweden Bridge looking north up Scandale. On the right the path that leads up to Scandale Head which is the snow covered skyline to the right in the distance leading across to High Peak with High Brock Crag just in front. In July I was up there in a temperature of around 25c and today, 8-12-14 was around 4c, but just as nice to be up there This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 5D Mark II 3 people have added this picture to their favourites |

Fairfield from Skelghyll The Fairfield Horseshoe seen from the road leading to Skelghyl Woods on the southern edges of Ambleside. The walk round the horseshoe takes in Nab Scar just behind the church leading on to Lord Crag, Heron Pike and Great Rigg before turning back towards Ambleside and descending via Dove Crag, High Pike and Low Pike and High Sweden Bridge. Have taken this shot before but never with a sky like this. 24-7-14 This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |

High Sweden Bridge High Sweden Bride, yet again, this time with Low Brock Crag in the background. Low Brock and High Brock Crags are on the western ridge overlooking Scandale, where I was a few days earlier. This same ridge also forms the eastern side of the Fairfield Horseshoe .. another long hard walk that is on the 'tentative, to-do list, 24-7-14 This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
High Sweden Bridge No apologies for another shot of this superb example of the pack horse bridge. I could stay here all day taking pictures. Quite a popular spot but but never as busy as some of the other bridges. Only access is about a mile and a half on foot uphill although not very steep. Nearest car park is in the middle of Ambleside. 24-7-14 This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D 1 person has added this picture to their favourites |
High Sweden Bridge They had only walked up from Ambleside, less than 2 miles, but had the right idea .. boots off and have a paddle in Scandale Beck as if flows through High Sweden Bridge on its way to join the River Rothay at Ambleside. 24-7-14 This picture appears in the following picture tours: |
