Loughrigg path Just one of the many little paths that criss cross Todd Crag and Loughrigg Fell. Some a bit wider, some a bit more overgrown, but either way a wonderful place to fill a few hours not to mention a memory card or two!! (Always helps to carry spare cards and batteries) This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |

Lily Tarn Lily Tarn on Todd Crag above Ambleside. A regular visit on one of my favourite walks. Looking north with the Fairfield Horseshoe behind on the right. The path on the far side behind the tree leads off to the west across Loughrigg Fell towards Grasmere. You can just see the tip of the Langdale Pikes in the far distant left. Just towards the right of the tarn a lady had brought her dogs up from Ambleside and they were quite happily in and out of the tarn to cool off. Temperature around 24C and rising. Loughrigg to Fairfield Still on route upto Lily Tarn looking back Northwards to a closer view of the Fairfield Horseshoe. A walk of around 12 miles either way round. From the right passing High Sweden Bridge to ascend the ridge capped by Low and High Pikes upto the top of Scandale Head then across the top to descend via Great Rigg, Heron Pike, Lords Crag and eventually down Nab Scar and back into Ambleside via Rydal Park. Not yet done it but keep in the 'to-do' list but it is quite a challenge!! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |
Todd Crag to Red Screes Half way up the hill from Millers Brow heading towards Todd Crag and Lily Tarn. Looking back towards the Fairfield Horseshoe on the left with High Pike and Low Pike in center where I came down from Scandale earlier in the week. And over to the right Red Screes which is on the 'to-do' list for one of this years visits. Hopefully with slightly lower temperatures than experienced this particular week July 2014. This was still relatively early and the temperature was already hovering around 23-24c and got hotter later on!!
