Sun down Moon up

GWR Bridge

This bridge used to support the main railway line from Honiton to Exmouth. The line was closed in 1960 and now this bridge carries only a footpath. The detail shows the springing point of the arch and positioning of the header bricks in a pattern.

Ant

This ant is not a relation of mine but attratcted my attention as it moved across the path.

Budleigh Winch

This old piece of equipment is on Budleigh's pebbled beach and is a winch - still used to drag the boats out from the sea up over the pebbles to rest.

Sweetpea flower

A delicate sweetpea flower in the hedgerow. The colour and perfume was celebrated to be used as a Royal emblem in Edwardian England. I think it should be adopted by the Diabetic Association as their emblem - having suffered diabetes now for more years than I haven't.

I took a shot of a wayside plant and thought I'd look it up later. I'm at a loss, a hairy stem, spear shaped leaf, flat 5 petals with nothing in the centre! The nearest I can find is Bugloss, is it?
